THE SPITFIRES COMMEMORATE QUEEN'S DIAMOND JUBILEE WITH SINGLE "SUFFER KATE"

To commemorate sixty glorious years of "Her Madge" Queen Elizabeth the second's reign, Perth's very own Indie Terrorists The Spitfires will be releasing a delicate ode to everybody's favourite fucked up nuclear family. Written in 2011 in honour of the Royal Wedding of William and Kate, the track received its debut in the UK prior to the big event. Fasterlouder were on hand to discuss it with front man Sean Regan during an interview that January...

Fasterlouder - So you were inspired by the Royals?

Regan - Well it was easy to write about them really because they’re such a bunch of strange inbred loons with such an interesting culture. So what we decided to do was to write it taking on the guise of Prince William and rather than singing “Hi I’m Prince William and blah, blah, blah…” we just simply sung about a bunch of guys who live on an estate, sponging off the social and keeping pit bulls that attack children, which ironically enough, is a pretty good description of the royal family. The Royal Family is a perfect little English family. They’ve got gay Uncle Eddie who lives life in the cupboard, there’s his brother Harry who’s the bastard of the family and yeah so it was really, really easy

Fasterlouder - You had perfect material…

Regan - It was really difficult to keep it down to three minutes. In our wildest dreams it will hopefully get released, then banned and we won’t have to worry about it.

... the track follows on from debut single Smile's caustic take on a funeral gone wrong, with a 90's era Brit-Rock sound married with fuzzed guitar solo and tribal drumming. Suffer Kate is the second Single from The Spitfires forthcoming album which will be available through Firestarter distribution and can be listened to now on Soundcloud.

Suffer Kate Music Video

Following a successful fundraiser, The Spitfires have secured the necessary cash for a new clip for Suffer Kate. Teaming up with Stefan Radanovich and Aaron McCann, the group will be shooting the music video at the end of May with a release to coincide with the Perth launch party. Though everybody involved with the clip remain tight lipped about its content, it has been revealed that it will feature ultraslow motion camera technology and Luchador wrestlers... with Debut Clip Smile to exceed 2,500 hits this week the band hope to continue their good run of form on the video front.

'THE SPITFIRES' ENLIST NEW DRUMMER

'THE SPITFIRES' ENLIST NEW DRUMMER FROM 'THE BULLET HOLES', WHO INSISTS ON MUSIC WITH ATTITUDE

Following an exhaustive search of the Perth music scene, The Spitfires have finally found their new drummer. Through hundreds of interviews, auditions and reality TV style "challenges", Bradley Stevens, former stickman from The Bullet Holes, has been chosen for the coveted Spitfires drum stool. Bradley will be making his debut headline performance for the band at the Norfolk Basement on Friday 26th August.

The Bullet Holes split up in February this year after spending 5 years working hard in the WA music scene, releasing 2 EPs, a couple of singles, and winning prizes in various band competitions. Now without a group, Bradley Stevens has been invited to play for The Spitfires, the very band that he booked to support The Bullet Holes for their farewell show, and feels right at home in the english pop-rocker's line-up.

Bradley has said: "I've had plenty of experience and I know what I'm doing on a drum stool, but I still wouldn't offer my time to any random band. The Spitfires have a similar purpose to what The Bullet Holes did... they're charged up on social-awareness which they've infused into pop-rock, and that takes my fancy. I want to play music with attitude and passion, so when Sean Regan invited me to audition, I made it my goal to have that spot".

WEBSITE

THE SPITFIRES WEBSITE BACK ONLINE

Hi everyone,

As you will have noticed the website has been down for a while and has a lot of the old content missing. Well while we were off on our little tour of the UK our site got hacked by a bunch of unscrupulous fraudsters and a fake bank got installed into the middle of it. Considering how outspoken we've been on the whole issue of the banking crisis this was ironic to say the least!

However all has been restored and we're slowly rebuilding the page. In the meantime you can head over to our facebook page for a free download and a list of upcoming shows, we've even got a lovely live clip of the band to keep you amused until we get the site back up and running.
